Billy and Erika Tjernlund

Billy and Erika serve with Great Commission Alaska (GCA) doing outreach with native people groups of Alaska.  Billy will be serving as a pilot for GCA and will be flying for Alexander Creek Kings Lodge (outreach to native men who have been released from prison), missions trips, and Kokrine Hills Bible Camp. Billy also plans to provide Bible teaching at Alexander Creek Kings Lodge as the Lord leads. Erika will continue working on language training material for coworkers serving in Mexico, caring for their beautiful toddler Evaleigh, and providing a home for the family.

Billy grew up in Chicago and Erika in Mexico with her missionary parents, Dr. Ken and Ruth Van Kirk. Both Billy and Erika are graduates of Moody Bible Institute, where they met. The Tjernlunds previously spent 7 years in northern Mexico serving among an unreached people group. Ultimately, the Lord guided them to transition from the warmth of Mexico to the cooler temps of Alaska, due to their particular skill sets and the needs of the ministries among native peoples.
